About

A Beautiful Mess is our adoption story that God is currently writing. We are a family of 3 (plus a big fluffy golden retriever) who cannot wait to welcome another addition to our family! Why are we calling our story A Beautiful Mess? God often uses the mess in our lives to create something absolutely beautiful…something we could never create on our own. When we hear adoption stories we often forget about the heartache that happens before the beauty is seen.  The song Beautiful Things by Michael Gungor explains it perfectly:

All this pain
I wonder if I’ll ever find my way?
I wonder if my life could really change at all?
All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found?
Could a garden come up from this ground at all?

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

Oh, you make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make me new, You are making me new
You make me new, You are making me new
Making me new

You make beautiful things
(You make me new)
You make beautiful things out of the dust
(You are making me new, making me new)

You make beautiful things
(You make me new)
You make beautiful things out of us
(You are making me new, making me new)

Oh, you make beautiful things
(You make me new)
You make beautiful things out of the dust
(You are making me new, making me new)

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust

You make me new, You are making me new
You make me new, You are making me new

Our desire is not to “save” a child but to be part of God’s plan to turn pain into beauty. We hope you enjoy following our story as God leads us to the newest littlest Esh!

  1. I absolutely cannot think of a couple who would be better to be His instruments to turn this pain into beauty. Will be praying for the process and I know this has been on your hearts for a long time. Is it not so sweet that the Lord lets us know His timing. Love to all of you.

  2. We love you all so very much and can hardly wait to see who our Lord places in your lives. When I think of adoption, I ponder on how the Lord Jesus has adopted us into His family and how totally blessed we are to be called His children! Love, Mom Esh
